Lenovo Closes IBM x86 Server Business Buy

acquisitionLenovo has completed the initial terms for its acquisition of IBM‘s x86 server business.

Lenovo has bought the System x, BladeCenter and Flex System blade servers and switches, x86-based Flex integrated systems, NeXtScale and iDataPlex servers, IBM said Wednesday.

The company will also serve as IBM’s original equipment manufacturer and reseller of IBM’s Storwize storage products, Linear Tape Open products and elements of IBM’s system software portfolio.

The transaction is scheduled to close in other countries in early 2015.
