Deloitte is partnering with Virginia Tech to launch the Pamplin College Center for Business Intelligence and Analytics which will be located in Blacksburg, Va., the company said Monday.

The goals of the new center include the development of a business intelligence minor, availability of financial and data resources, experiential opportunities for business students and to build research relationships with other groups on campus, Deloitte said.

“We already have a deep relationship with Virginia Tech and are excited to grow that relationship through our support of the Pamplin College Center for Business Intelligence and Analytics Center,” said Nick Gonnella, partner at Deloitte Tax LLP.

Deloitte also said a goal of the center is to grow Pamplin faculty participation in sponsored research.

“An understanding of the principles behind big data and analytics is a required skill in today’s workplace as more organizations are leveraging analytics to better understand their customers and uncover new insights in existing data,”  said Patrick Fan, director of the center.
