Lockheed Martin BlueLockheed Martin will perform technical work and module testing on early-warning radar systems used on U.S. Navy aircraft under a $16.2 million contract, Syracuse.com reported Thursday.

Mark Weiner writes the Lockheed-built AN/APY-9 radar systems will be integrated into the 75 planned E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft with the goal of detecting hostile airborne and cruise missiles.

Work will occur at the company’s plant at Electronics Park in Salinas, N.Y., for completion by February 2017.

The company employs 1,600 workers at the Electronics Park plant.
