Big Data, AppsAirbus and a Singapore-based research agency have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore areas of mutual interest such as data analytics.

The partnership with Singapore’s agency for science, technology and research is intended to help customers manage fuel efficiency through new methods of operational data analysis, Airbus said Feb. 10.

Asia-Pacific region business accounts for nearly 27 percent of Airbus’ worldwide orders, the company said.

“This partnership is reflective of how the public and private sectors are synergistically working together under an open innovation framework to position Singapore as an Aviation Innovation Hub to better serve the growing Asian market and beyond,” said Lim Chuan Poh, chairman of A*STAR.

Agency and company executives signed the pact at the 2014 Singapore Air Show.
