General Dynamics Information Technology - ExecutiveMosaicGeneral Dynamics Information Technology has been chosen to run a web-based cloud computing brokerage service for the state of Texas.

The subsidiary launched the CloudBroker online portal where state and local government organizations and public education institutions can acquire cloud platforms and services, General Dynamics IT said Wednesday.

As the state’s official cloud broker, General Dynamics IT will help the Texas Department of Information Resources facilitate contract negotiations between providers and customers.

“Texas is paving the way for all state agencies to benefit from the flexibility and cost savings of cloud computing,” said Charlie Plummer, General Dynamics Information Technology’s vice president and general manager for the IT solutions segment.

“We have the right experience to help state agencies reduce cloud acquisition and contracting costs as well as save valuable time in procurement,” Plummer added.

CloudBroker is based on a Gravitant technology that works to help users compare provider offerings, estimate costs and manage procurements.

General Dynamics IT says the portal also features workflow tools designed to automate cost estimating and billing processes.
