Optum‘s federal government health services unit has secured two contracts from the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide medical disability exams and telehealth lifestyle coaching services to military veterans.

The company said Wednesday its OptumServe business will perform scheduled lifestyle consultation over the phone to help veterans who receive care from 20 VA medical facilities manage their dietary, weight and fitness.

OptumServe’s Logistics Health subsidiary will administer veteran medical disability assessments to transitioning service members and veterans from Regions 1, 2 and 3 through the Veteran Benefits Administration.

Optum recently opened a clinic in New York to offer medical treatment and evaluation services to 9/11 survivors.

The Minnesota-based company works with federal customers to help update the U.S. health system.
