A Textron subsidiary is set to install a suite of sensors on a new tiltrotor aircraft being developed for the U.S. Army, Military.com reported Tuesday.

Maj. Gen. Jeff Schloesser, executive vice president for strategic pursuits at Bell, told Military.com that the company will install Lockheed Martin‘s Pilotage Distributed Aperture Sensor system that is designed to provide 360-degree awareness for aircraft.

Bell and Lockheed are jointly developing the aircraft under the Army’s Future Vertical Lift program.

The V-280 underwent a multi-role technology demonstration in June, six months after the aircraft’s first test flight.
