xG Technology‘s IMT Vislink subsidiary will provide encrypted HD video downlink technology for a new law enforcement drone developed by K2 Unmanned Systems.

The Knight Hawk drone was released during the Pasadena Police Department’s 29th APSA Fly-In Training event that took place Wednesday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., xG said Friday.

The IMT Vislink technology is designed to collect and distribute video data across deployed assets, and seeks to operate with surveillance aircraft systems used in local police agencies.

Equipped with high payload capacity and infrared optics, the drone may also be used for first responder and infrastructure inspection applications.
