The General Services Administration’s FedScape initiative for program alignment has received recognition from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments for the program’s effort to build strategic relationships with the region’s officials.

Tony Costa, senior adviser to the GSA administrator, wrote in a blog post published Thursday that MWCOG awarded the 2016 Regional Partnership Award in recognition of GSA’s collaboration with D.C. metro-area jurisdictions as part of FedScape.

The program aims to link agency activities with community plans and economic development efforts through coordination with local governments and civic leaders, Costa added.

“FedScape has helped revive a more intensive and collaborative relationship between the region and GSA,” Costa said.

“Together, we’re moving toward a more coordinated land use and transportation strategy that focuses on the region’s activity centers.”

Some of the activities in support of FedScape include exchanges about the effect of federal investments in the jurisdictions, ways to utilize buying power and pricing measures as well as other best practices.
