Globecomm Systems will donate a set of satellite terminals to a Dutch-run educational program on board a ship.
The company is sponsoring the six-month School at Sea project with its FleetBroadband terminals to help students transmit video, voice and data to their teachers in the Netherlands, Globecomm said Monday.
“This educational program is providing students an experience they will never forget and teaches development skills, such as problem-solving and team-building, that are invaluable in the workforce,†said Keith Hall, Globecomm CEO.
The satellite terminals are also designed for airtime telecommunications.
The Regina Maris schooner carrying the students departed the port of IJmuiden in the Netherlands in October to sail toward Tenerife as part of the multileg voyage.
