Dr. Christopher Boone, a former vice president at healthcare advisory firm Avalere Health, will officially join the Health Data Consortium on Nov. 3 as the nonprofit organization’s executive director.
Boone will oversee the group’s efforts to grow as a public-private alliance working to promote the open data movement and adoption of information technology platforms in the healthcare sector, HDC said Thursday.
“The changes needed to improve health and healthcare in our country will require action from across both the private and public sectors,” said Boone.
“I am proud to join the charge at this critical time and to work with HDC’s members to accelerate progress and navigate through these changes,” he added.
As an Avalere Health VP, he led the company’s work to ensure clinical data generation, availability and access for life sciences firms, consumer advocacy groups and professional medical societies.
He also worked with U.S. hospitals to design, build and implement health IT systems as well as oversaw technology-based medical data collection initiatives at the American Heart Association.
