Jeff Brubaker: Bechtel to Enter Final Phase of Weapons Disposal Plant Construction

BechtelLogo (1)A team led by Bechtel is more than 75-percent complete with construction of a weapons disposal facility for the U.S. Army’s program executive office for assembled chemical weapons alternatives.

The Blue Grass Chemical Agent Destruction Pilot Plant is being built to destroy stockpiles of chemical nerve agent weapons at the Blue Grass Army Depot outside Richmond, Ky., Bechtel announced Tuesday.

“This milestone sets the stage for the final phases of construction and marks countless hours of dedicated work performed by the team on this critical mission,” said Jeff Brubaker, PEO ACWA site project manager.

Through working with the Army, the Bechtel team has completed the construction of a laboratory, maintenance and personnel support buildings, an electrical substation and fire-water pump house.
