Thales has introduced a modernized version of its Bushmaster armored vehicle platform designed to protect crew against land mines and improvised explosive devices.

The company said Friday its Australian business designed and produced the Bushmaster MR6 platform in an effort to increase the vehicle’s capacity, protection and mobility in battlefield missions.

Bushmaster vehicles feature a “deep V-Hull” design and have been deployed to support operations in Afghanistan, Iraq and Mali.

Eight countries have bought the original platform in more than 12 configurations.

Thales has completed initial MR6 tests and the company noted it plans to introduce a dozen variants of the new platform.
