Leidos has received a potential nine-month, $12 million contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center’s Arderock Division to support acoustic trials and research activities at the U.S. Navy‘s Southeast Alaska Acoustic Measurement Facility.

The contract contains a six-month base period plus one three-month option and work will occur at various locations in Alaska, Washington and Mississippi, Leidos said Monday.

Mike Chagnon, a group president at Leidos, said the company aims to help the Navy prepare for all acoustic trials with the use of technology.

Under the contract, the company will continue to help operate and maintain Navy and U.S. Marine Corps signature silencing programs as well as provide logistics, infrastructure inspection, vessel transport services and waste management services.

NSWCDD supports technical products associated with surface and undersea platforms and performs evaluations to determine acoustic noise sources, examine vulnerability and identify quieting measures.
