ThalesThales has been selected to update the telecommunications networks of France’s military inside the country and overseas locations under two separate contracts.

Under one contract, the company will update the SOCRATE network and deployment through 2021 in order to interconnect more than 250,000 users at Paris’ new MoD headquarters, Thales said Wednesday.

Thales will also incorporate its Nexium View product into the network to help the French military’s information technology and communications agency manage all aspects of the network and respond to incidents.

A second contract calls on Thales to collaborate with NextiraOne to link 1,200 sites in mainland France and overseas as part of the DESCARTES program, with the network set for rollout in 2018.
