Inmarsat has chosen an Eclipse–NSSLGlobal joint venture as a value-added reseller of Global Xpress mobile broadband satellite airtime services to government aviation agencies.
Aerosatcom will market GX Ka-band and L-band services as well as help Inmarsat design, certify and offer aeronautical communication platforms for the public sector, Inmarsat said Wednesday.
“The government market for commercial satellite communications is, necessarily, a complex one,” said Andy Start, president of Inmarsat’s global government business.
“To build business in this environment, especially for a completely new service such as Global Xpress, requires channel partners with the right experience, expertise and depth of resources,” Start added.
Eclipse and NSSLGlobal formed Aerosatcom in September with the intent to help government aircraft operators and users access to mobile satellite services.
