Orbital ATK to Produce Aircraft Countermeasure for US Air Force; Charlie Precourt Comments

Orbital ATK has been selected to produce spectrally matched aircraft countermeasure units for the U.S. Air Force.

The company will integrate a new aircraft survivability feature into the MJU-73/B aircraft countermeasure system for use in USAF Special Operations aircraft, Orbital ATK said Tuesday.

“These sophisticated pyrotechnic devices protect the warfighter by mimicking the ‘heat’ signature of an aircraft to lure infrared missiles away,” said Charlie Precourt, vice president and general manager of Orbital ATK’s propulsion systems division.

Orbital ATK also uses MJU-73/B as the technology baseline for other countermeasure programs that are being tested.
