Nightforce Optics has won a potential five-year, $53.7M contract to manufacture optical sighting devices for the U.S. Special Operations Command's sniper rifles.

Two offers were submitted to the Naval Surface Warfare Center for the Precision-Variable Power Scopes contract covering standard and long-range variants, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

P-VPS is designed to provide visual magnification ranging from 3x to 7x and continuous zoom up to 25x.

An initial obligated amount of $2.3M will come from fiscal 2020 defense procurement funds and expire by the end of the continuing resolution period.

Work under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract will take place in Orofino, Idaho, through December 2024.
