Lockheed Martin has completed a test of a new long-range missile geared to address the U.S. Army’s precision requirements.

The test for the Precision Strike Missile program took place at New Mexico-based White Sands Missile Range and tackled test objectives in the areas of trajectory, range and accuracy, Lockheed said Tuesday.

The missile also demonstrated operation with the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System launcher and associated software. HIMARS launched the missile that flew 149.1 miles towards a target.

The PrSM program seeks a missile that will help artillery forces strike distant targets in support of Army, coalition and joint operations.
