The Tennessee Department of Transportation has selected PlanGrid to provide software for general contractors and designers to manage productivity in civil infrastructure projects.

TDOT will require contractors doing business with the department to use PlanGrid's construction management platform as they carry out projects, including the Interstate 440 reconstruction effort in Nashville, the company said Tuesday.

PlanGrid designed its software to help users access construction-related information, specifications and plan revisions via web browsers and mobile devices. The technology assigns GPS coordinates to key drawing details for field workers to determine what and where they will build a structure.

More than 300 construction firms implemented PlanGrid-made software during 2018 to facilitate collaboration on multiple civil projects.
