Northrop Integrates AESA Radar Tech Onto F-16 Aircraft Configurations

Northrop Grumman has integrated the Scalable Agile Beam Radar technology onto multiple configurations of the F-16 fighter aircraft for domestic and international defense customers.

The company said Tuesday it also seeks to equip other military aircraft platforms, such as the U.S. Marine Corps’ F/A-18C/D Hornet strike fighter and the U.S. Air Force’s B-1B Lancer bomber and B-52H Stratofortress, with the AN/APG-83 SABR system.

Boeing is considering deployment of an intial seven SABRs to support the Air Force’s B-52 Bomber Modernization Radar System initiative.

SABR is an active electronically scanned array radar currently in full-rate production phase and combines features of F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II radars.
