Science Applications International Corp. has created a virtual laboratory environment in a move to help federal customers accelerate the development of information technology software platforms.

SAIC said Tuesday its Innovation Factory uses multiple tools from the company and its partner Red Hat to support government IT and application development efforts.

Red Hat’s OpenShift container application platform serves as foundation of the cloud-based lab.

Charles Onstott, a senior vice president and chief technology officer of SAIC, said that Innovation Factory is intended to help clients test artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, blockchain and internet-of-things technologies.

The company will initially host Innovation Factory in Reston, Va., and intends to work with customers to deploy the platform at their facilities.

SAIC noted a team of professionals who knows about agile and DevOps methods and cloud-native architectures will support clients through the lab.
