The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity has issued a request for information on research efforts that involve hardware and software architectures with intelligent computing functions.

IARPA said in a FedBizOpps notice posted Thursday it seeks to determine the possibility of developing within the next 20 years a computer system that can reason and learn from experience, manage energy efficiency, reduce footprint and address communication barriers.

The agency also wants to know the estimated time frame and timeline for future computing system development projects; potential environmental and power requirements; and metrics, proxy applications and benchmarks that can drive such efforts.

Interested parties can submit input to IARPA through Dec. 14.
