Charles River Analytics and Raytheon‘s BBN Technologies subsidiary will collaborate on a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency-funded effort to develop modeling tools for military planners to comprehend potential causes of a conflict.
The industry team aims to produce military planning tools using artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques as part of DARPA’s Causal Exploration of Complex Operational Environments program, Charles River said Monday.
David Blumstein, Charles River’s principal investigator for the project, said the company is working with Raytheon BBN to create algorithms designed to mine data sources with content, structure, scale and quality for predictive and causal information.
“These technologies will help users of the Causal Exploration platform rapidly construct decision-support models calibrated to individual operational environments,” he added.
DARPA selected Raytheon BBN in late 2017 to help the agency carry out the project.
