Lockheed CEO Marillyn Hewson receives Edison Achievement Award

Marillyn Hewson, chairman, president and CEO at Lockheed Martin, has received an award from the Edison Awards Steering Committee in recognition of her contributions to the technology field through professional career, achievements and leadership.

The company said Thursday she accepted the 2018 Edison Achievement Award at a gala ceremony that took place Wednesday night.

“I’m humbled and I’m honored to accept this award on behalf of the 100,000 women and men of Lockheed Martin,” said Hewson, also a 2018 Wash100 recipient.

She added the company’s workforce has contributed to innovation efforts across land, sea, air, space and cyber domains.

Lockheed also received Gold prizes for its Matrix Technology designed to support autonomous helicopter operations and Spectrally Beam Combined Fiber Lasers built to secure weapons from security threats.

The company added it won a Silver prize for its Geostationary Lightning Mapper instrument that works to monitor lightning from space.
