The U.S. Air Force has awarded Orbital ATK and $86.4 million contract to manufacture  armed intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft for Afghanistan’s air force.

Orbital ATK will provide AC-208 aircraft under the “pseudo” foreign military sales contract, the Defense Department said Thursday.

Contract work will occur in Fort Worth, Texas through June 9, 2019.

The 645th Aeronautical Systems Group is the contracting activity for the sole-source acquisition and obligated $42.3 million in fiscal 2017 Afghan security forces funds at the time of award.

AC-208 Eliminator is derived from Orbital ATK’s AC-208 Armed Caravan and designed to carry 2.75-inch guided rockets and/or AGM-114 Hellfire missile payload for counter-insurgency operations.
