A Defense Department committee has included the latest tactical radio architecture in DoD’s registry for approved information technology and national security systems standards, SIGNAL reported Thursday.

The report said DoD’s Joint Enterprise Standards Committee replaced version 2.2.2. of the Software Communications Architecture with SCA version 4.1 in the Information Technology Standards Registry.

SAC’s new version is designed to increase performance, cybersecurity and portability of SCA-compliant systems, the report added.

The Joint Tactical Networking Center has published an unclassified document about the features and advantages of the updated architecture.
