Turkey has launched a bidding process for a project to link information systems of the country’s future F-35 aircraft to an information network of the Turkish air force, C4ISRNET reported Tuesday.

The report said Turkey’s undersecretariat for defense industries will accept proposals for the F-35/Air Force Information System Integration Project through Feb. 28.

The country intends to buy 116 units of the Lockheed Martin-built fighter aircraft.

Turkish military leaders aim to establish a dual-fighter jet fleet that will comprise F-35 and TF-X, an indigenous platform being developed by a Turkish Aerospace IndustriesBAE Systems team.
