L3 Technologies has won a seven-year, $9 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to explore technologies that can facilitate cooperative engagement between munition systems deployed in a degraded communication environment.

The Air Force Research Laboratory received two bids for the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract and will obligate $1.7 million in fiscal 2017 research and development funds at the time of award, the Defense Department said Friday.

L3’s Communications Systems-West business will perform contract work in Salt Lake City, Utah, through January 2025.
