A Comtech Telecommunications subsidiary has received a $7.7 million order to provide high-power traveling wave tube amplifiers to a U.S. airborne strategic military program.

Comtech Xicom Technology will manufacture TWTAs as part of the follow-on order with a U.S. military integrator, the company said Monday.

“The amplifier is designed for use on multiple airframes, and includes sophisticated electronics that allows the user with the ability to transmit under extreme battlefield conditions,” said Fred Kornberg, president and CEO at Comtech Telecommunications.

Comtech Xicom produces military-grade tube-based and solid-state power amplifiers designed to generate 8 watts to 3 kilowatts of power and integrate with ground vehicles, ships and aircraft.
