BAE Systems has awarded Marand a potential $11.5 million contract to produce turret shells in support of the former’s bid for the Land 400 combat reconnaissance vehicle program in Australia.

The turret shells for BAE Systems and Patria‘s AMV35 combat reconnaissance vehicle offering are common for Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the program and the latest investment will help open approximately 60 manufacturing jobs in the Victoria region, BAE Systems said Thursday.

Marand was selected to help the BAE Systems-Patria team compete for the armored fighting vehicle modernization program in February.

“Working with partners like Marand will help us develop and maintain Australian Industry Capability on major projects like Land 400,” said Glynn Phillips, CEO of BAE Systems Australia.

The Land 400 program aims to replace country’s current Australian Light Armored Vehicle fleet, added BAE Systems.
