BAE Unit to Modernize USS Bataan Amphibious Assault Ship

BAE SystemsNorfolk Ship Repair business has secured a potential $45.8 delivery order to maintain, repair and modernize the U.S. Navy‘s amphibious assault ship USS Bataan.

Norfolk Ship Repair will execute phased maintenance availability of the vessel also called LHD 5 at a facility in Virginia and is scheduled to complete work in July 2018, the Defense Department said Thursday .

The Navy obligated $13.5 million in fiscal 2017 operation and maintenance funds at the time of award.

The Naval Sea Systems Command is the contract activity.
