The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency will host a Proposers Day on Aug. 15 in Arlington, Virginia, to discuss a program that seeks to boost the safety of autonomous systems.

DARPA said Monday it aims to develop design and analysis tools that can help guarantee the safety of autonomous platforms and support the use of such systems in “safety-critical” Defense Department operations under the Assured Autonomy program.

The project will focus on autonomous vehicle challenges that are relevant to the military, DARPA noted.

The Proposers Day will feature overview presentations by agency personnel; a side-bar meeting with the Assured Autonomy program manager; and capability presentations from companies or research organizations.

DARPA also seeks to encourage researchers to team up for the project through the forum.

Interested participants may register for the event until Aug. 10.
