Melvin Greer, director of data science and analytics at Intel, will receive the Lifetime Achievement from Black Data Processing Associates in recognition of his contribution to the information technology sector.

BDPA will present the award to Greer during the 39th Annual National Technology Conference and Career Fair that is set to kick off on July 26 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the nonprofit organization said in a May 16 news release.

“Greer exemplifies all that BDPA stands for in his supreme commitment and dedication to the information technology industry,” said Pamela Mathews, BDPA’s national vice president.

Greer previously served as a senior fellow of cyber and analytics at Lockheed Martin and professor at the University of Puerto Rico’s college of engineering.

He is a fellow of the National Cybersecurity Institute, managing director of the Greer Institute for Leadership and Innovation and a member of the U.S. National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

BDPA is an African-American IT nonprofit association that works to provide training support to students in science, technology and engineering and math fields.
