cisco_GovConWire Cisco has launched a new cloud-based tool designed to provide a centralized mechanism that will manage data streams and help cities capture, analyze and share data across organizations, sectors and residents.

Cecile Willems, a director at Cisco’s global public sector business, wrote in a blog post published Wednesday, the Smart+Connected Digital Platform uses integrated smart video surveillance to provide automated alerting capacity and address emergency response time.

The platform utilizes predictive and cross-correlated analytics in a push to reduce crime, optimize resources and boost situational awareness as well as aid public safety officials on proactive threat management and coordination tasks.

“Public safety is a highly visible metric for which city officials are judged on quality of leadership and as a platform for reelection,” said Willems.

“Now, more so than ever, city and community leaders are looking for innovative ways to address ever-evolving challenges, while keeping people safe and maintaining sustainable, successful growth.”
