Boeing-P-8A-PoseidonThe Navy has awarded CFM International a $32.5 million firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to deliver field assessment, repairs and replacement support for CFM56 engines on the Boeing Poseidon P-8 aircraft.

Services include unscheduled depot maintenance and repair, Sermetel protective coatings and other required non-standard repairs, the Defense Department said Thursday.

CFM will conduct work in Cincinnati, Ohio, with an expected end date of May 2018.

Funds will be obligated depending on issued individual task orders, DoD added.

The Naval Air Systems Command is the contracting authority.

The Poseidon aircraft is equipped with two CFM56 engines designed to provide thrusts of up to 27,000 pounds force and works to support long-range anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare as well as perform intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
