Lockheed Martin BlueLockheed Martin’s mission systems and training business has achieved the maturity level 5 rating from the CMMI Institute, the highest rating of its kind.

Lockheed said Nov. 16 a third-party Capability Maturity Model Integration appraisal was performed on the company’s large-scale development and operations programs in the fall as part of the certification process.

“Achieving a level 5 rating sets Lockheed Martin apart and demonstrates to our customers that we use proven processes when performing on contracts and are committed to continuous improvement,” said Rich Lockwood, vice president of business performance at Lockheed Martin MST.

Lockheed Martin MST also received a level 3 maturity rating for its smaller-scale programs and business processes.

The CMMI rating serves as a guiding framework for organizational operations and is used by the federal government to assess contract proposals.
