Mark Testoni, president and CEO of SAP National Security Services, told Federal Times in an interview published Friday the U.S. needs to defend critical network infrastructures from cyber attacks as cyber warfare becomes “another dimension of conflict.â€
“Our warfighting capabilities today generally are nation-state versus nation-state, generally in land, space or air,” Testoni told Aaron Boyd in the interview.
“Now we’re entering a new dimension where the Internet blurs the lines.”
Testoni discussed how the Russian military forces disrupted the telecommunications, utilities and power networks in Georgia and Crimea through cyber attacks.
He said cyber has changed two-dimensional warfare between the U.S. and other nation-states into a multidimensional dynamic that includes companies and other organizations.
