Orbital ATK has secured a contract to perform research and design work on space propulsion systems for NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Ohio.
NASA awarded the Research and Technologies for Aerospace Propulsion Systems 2 contract to Orbital ATK’s Alliant Techsystems Operations subsidiary, Orbital ATK said Monday.
In July, NASA awarded Orbital ATK and 12 other companies five-year contracts worth up to $190 million combined in support of aerospace research activities at Glenn Research Center.
“This effort reflects our continued commitment to be a key partner in NASA’s pioneering space endeavors,†said Mike Kahn, president of Orbital ATK’s defense systems group.
Alliant Techsystems Operations will focus its work on propellant systems, electric propulsion tools, rocket-based combined cycle and liquid engine components for rotorcraft, hypersonic, subsonic and supersonic vehicles.
