Northrop Grumman CEO Wes Bush has said the company remains focused on expanding its services in targeted growth areas, Reuters reported Wednesday.

“I’m excited about growing our company with what we have. We get the biggest return on the things we do inside the company,” Bush told the news agency.

He noted the Defense Department’s reluctance to support mergers and acquisitions among U.S. defense contractors, Andrea Shalal reports.

“I haven’t seen any evidence that the department is thinking about things differently, but it will always come down to the case-by-case view of competition versus the benefit that the department would get from it,” the chief executive told Reuters.

Pentagon officials said they see enough number of players in the defense industry, Shalal reports.
