CHSiComprehensive Health Services Inc. has been awarded a new five-year contract to continue providing comprehensive medical exams for current and prospective U.S. National Park Service staff who will perform law enforcement, firefighting and other “arduous” duties.

CHSi said Thursday the exams will help determine the staff or applicant’s fitness for duty and the potential risk to their health status given the working conditions and the physical demands of the job.

“With a large portion of [NPS] staff having job duties that require rigorous physical exercise, ensuring they are prepared to fulfill their jobs duties while being healthy and safe in what are often challenging environments is extremely important,” said CHSi President Gary Palmer.

The company noted that the new award extends its work under a previous five-year contract issued in 2009.

NPS’ Law Enforcement, Security, and Emergency Services Division within the Visitor and Resource Protection Associateship manages the contract.
