CAE said Tuesday it has delivered the U.S. Army’s first UH-72A flight training device at Fort Rucker, Alabama, months ahead of schedule.
The UH-72A FTD has a wide display powered by the CAE Medallion-600 image generator, and is fitted with a motion/vibration seat and a database comparable to government-owned systems, according to the company.
“We are honored to support the Army’s UH-72A Lakota flight training that will take place at Ft. Rucker, and particularly pleased we were able to deliver early on an aggressive delivery schedule,” said Ray Duquette, CAE USA president and general manager.
The company indicated that the simulator, under subcontract to Airbus Defense & Space, fits Federal Aviation Administration Level 6 requirements.
It now enters into service for helicopter flight students and instructor pilots at the Army’s Aviation Center of Excellence situated at the fort.
