Defense Department Starts Acquisition Cycle for Tricare Managed Care Support

healthcare itThe Defense Department has kick-started the acquisition process for the fourth iteration of a contract vehicle designed to fill the management support requirements of the military healthcare program, the Washington Post reported Friday.

Amrita Jayakumar writes that under TRICARE Managed Care Support T2017, the agency will farm out $50 billion in work two contractors, down one slot from previous versions that allowed up to three awardees.

The agency said its request for proposal will be finalized after consideration of all industry comments received.

The Tricare platform has over 9.5 million beneficiaries around the world, including active service members, retirees and their families.
