Northrop, Air Force Complete Minuteman III Flight Test; Lori Belnap Comments

MinutemanIIINorthrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) and the U.S. Air Force have completed a flight test of the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile weapon system.

The missile reached the Marshall Islands-based Ronald Reagan test site 30 minutes after its launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, Northrop said Tuesday.

“Each operational test we conduct is critical to ensuring the safety, surety, reliability and effectiveness of our nation’s ICBM weapons system,” said Lori Belnap, director and program manager for Northrop’s ICBM prime team.

The ICBM team comprises firms such as Northrop, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and ATK.

The team also helps the Air Force sustain, develop, deploy and modify the Minuteman weapon system.
