satellite airforceTECOM has partnered with Inmarsat to produce and market an antenna technology for government customers of Inmarsat’s Global Xpress satellite communications service.

The companies agreed to offer a TECOM-built satcom antenna system that aims to provide Ka-band broadband access to aviation organizations across the public sector, Inmarsat said Monday.

Peter Hadinger, president of Inmarsat’s U.S. government business unit, said the GX satellite platform is designed to address customers’ interoperable and mobile connectivity on a global basis.

“Inmarsat and TECOM have partnered for years in the L-band market, and we are excited about the possibilities the Ka-band market holds as Global Xpress enters worldwide commercial service in 2015,” said Gene Joles, TECOM president.

TECOM’s Ka-5000 terminals are built with a thermal management system and a multi-modem architecture intended to support different types of network infrastructure.
