Marty Beard, formerly chairman and CEO of LiveOps Inc., has joined BlackBerry Ltd. as chief operating officer.
Beard will oversee BlackBerry’s marketing, BlackBerry 10 application development efforts, customer care and quality operations, BlackBerry said Monday.
He will also be responsible for establishing best practices and processes.
“Marty brings extensive experience in operations, marketing and serving customers through the best technologies and processes available,†said John Chen, BlackBerry executive chairman and CEO.
Beard served as president of Sybase 365, a subsidiary of mobile messaging and mobile commerce services provider Sybase Inc., before he joined LiveOps.
He previously led Oracle’s customer sales and support enhancement efforts as VP of the Oracle Online e-Commerce unit.
