networkHughes Network Systems has released a series of updates to its HughesON Digital Media Solutions offering for the government market by adding features for social media integration, emergency notification and cloud-based content storage.

Tony Bardo, assistant vice president of government solutions at Hughes, said Monday that the updated social media platform is designed to deliver information to the public.

“When urgent situations arise, agencies need to react quickly and provide accurate and timely information to citizens, first responders and other agencies,” Bardo said.

He added that the new features are built to help users configure social media feeds for content distribution based on location and situation.

They also work to facilitate interoperability between Amazon Simple Storage Service and HughesON Digital Signage Solutions to store content such as digital signages in the cloud, Hughes said.

The updates are available to the government market via the General Services Administration‘s Schedule 70 vehicle.
